The New Orleans Saints officially filed two roster moves corresponding to signings reported earlier Wednesday morning, per Luke Johnson of NOLA.com.
In order to sign veteran defensive tackle Jay Bromley to the 53-man roster, wide receiver/punt returner Tommylee Lewis was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. Lewis left last Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns and did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Lewis was beginning his third year with the Saints, having signed with New Orleans as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois on Bill Parcells’ suggestion. Lewis won the job to return kicks and punts over the summer, but his loss opened the door for reserve Taysom Hill to do fun things like return a kickoff 47 yards on his first try.
