METAIRIE, La. – When New Orleans Saints fans think of facing the Washington Redskins, they immediately think of the Meachem play.
As in receiver Robert Meachem, who snatched the ball away from Redskins safety Kareem Moore after an interception and returned it 44 yards for a Saints touchdown in 2009.
It was arguably the craziest play in one of the wildest games in New Orleans’ Super Bowl-winning season – a 33-30 overtime win at Washington in Week 13.
The Saints later benefitted from a missed 23-yard field goal by Redskins kicker Shaun Suisham and a 53-yard TD from Drew Brees to Meachem in the final minutes of regulation.
