Josh Katzenstein reports that the Saints plan to release backup QB Luke McCown on Wednesday.
This comes a week or so after the Saints brought back Chase Daniel, so it was clear that McCown’s status with the team was up in the air moving forward.
McCown, 35, was taken in the fourth round of the 2004 draft by the Browns. He’s a well-traveled quarterback who has played for a number of teams including the Jaguars, Falcons, Buccaneers and Saints.
New Orleans re-signed McCown last year to a two-year, $3 million contract. He was set to make a base salary of $1.
