It wasn’t a memorable debut for running back Zach Zenner, the former Detroit Lions backup who signed with the New Orleans Saints almost a week ago. Zenner gained just 1 yard on his only carry against the Chicago Bears in Week 7, and dropped one of the two passes thrown his way in the same game (he picked up 6 yards on his single catch of the afternoon).
Per a report from Field Yates of ESPN, Zenner is already on his way out. The Saints released him on Tuesday, opening up a spot on the 53-man roster. It might be a sign that starting running back Alvin Kamara is close to returning from the ankle and knee injuries that sidelined him against Chicago.
