Mike Gillislee’s time in New Orleans is up, as the Saints have released him to make room for Mark Ingram according to Saturday’s NFL Transaction Report. It should come as no surprise to anyone, as Gillislee wasn’t cutting the mustard, and Ingram is expected return to form for Sean Payton’s offense.
The Saints leaned heavily on Alvin Kamara (56 carries, 275 yards, 5 TDs) for the first four weeks of the season, and it has paid off in a big way. The team tried using the likes of Jonathan Williams and Dwayne Washington in addition to Gillislee, but all three of them combined couldn’t even total what Taysom Hill did on the ground (7 carries, 67 yards).
