In the lead-up to the 2017 NFL Draft, one thing had been discussed a lot. That was the need for a back in the Darren Sproles/Reggie Bush model, what Sean Payton calls a “joker back,” also known as a satellite back. After Sproles left at the end of 2013, the Saints tried Khiry Robinson, C.J. Spiller and Travaris Cadet, everybody was getting a look. Finally, in the lead-up to the 2017 NFL Draft, talk began in earnest of the need to address the issue. Former Virginia running back Taquan Mizzell was a name that popped up frequently.
