METAIRIE, La. -- It might not be the Heisman Trophy, but it still has to be a nice honor for New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram -- especially considering the adversity he faced earlier this season.
Ingram was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday for the first time in his six-year career after he ran the ball 14 times for 146 yards and a touchdown and caught a 21-yard TD pass in Sunday’s 49-21 rout over the Los Angeles Rams.
As I wrote earlier this week, Ingram has bounced back in a huge way after being temporarily benched, then demoted into a timeshare with Tim Hightower, following fumbles in back-to-back games in Weeks 7 and 8.
