Saints Placing G Andrus Peat On Injured Reserve

Ian Rapoport reports that the Saints are placing G Andrus Peat on injured reserve with a broken fibula and a high-ankle sprain.

The good news, however, for Peat is that the ligament damage to his knee wasn’t as bad as was feared and he should be fully recovered for next season.

Peat, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Saints back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $11.393 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1.988 million for the 2018 season.

The Saints will have to decide whether to pick up his fifth-year option in the coming months.
