When the Saints selected linebacker Alex Anzalone in the third round of this most recent draft, they hoped he would bolster their long-struggling defense. Anzalone was able to do so for only four games in 2017, as the former Florida Gator was placed on injured reserve on Thursday.
Anzalone was forced out of New Orleans’ most recent game against the Dolphins in the first quarter with a familiar shoulder injury. A highly-rated recruit coming out of high school, Anzalone was limited to just 18 college games and endured two surgeries on his shoulder during his time at Florida.
