NEW ORLEANS -- Fats Domino, a New Orleans music legend who was widely credited as a rock and roll pioneer, left his mark on the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, as well.
Saints players wore a “FATS” decal on their helmets and Sean Payton had the name FATS written on his jacket, along with a musical note, as a tribute to Domino, who passed away earlier in the week at age 89.
“I just thought for someone whose contributions to music, I think, were very much underrated,” said Payton, who said the team also “did a little piece” on Domino for players during the week.
