Training camp began with a bang for the New Orleans Saints, with competition opening up all over the field. One of the most-intriguing roster battles surrounds the starting job at center, which was formerly held by Pro Bowler Max Unger.
The Saints have three legitimate candidates to take over. Cameron Tom, Unger’s understudy and a third-year player with the most experience in the Saints’ system, got the first reps in practice. After him came Nick Easton, a former starter for the Minnesota Vikings who was signed in free agency. And the group was rounded out by Erik McCoy, the Saints’ top pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
