The New Orleans Saints have submitted quarterback Drew Brees as their nominee for this year’s Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. He was nominated for the recognition last year, which was awarded to Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechley. Per the Saints’ official team website:
According to an NFL press release, the award is presented to a player who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition. It was created in 2014 and named after Art Rooney Sr., former owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
A panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community will select eight finalists (four in the AFC and four in the NFC) from the 32 nominees.
