The New Orleans Saints' continual search for a long-term solution at middle linebacker led them to sign A.J. Klein Thursday, giving him an opportunity to start after spending much of his career behind Luke Kuechly with the Carolina Panthers.
Klein's contract is a bit complex like of the Saints' free-agent additions in recent years.
Although labeled a four-year, $24 million deal, the final year in 2020 is worth $9 million and voids automatically if he's still on the team on the last day of the 2019 league year. In reality, it's a three-year, $15 million deal.
