The New Orleans Saints tried to acquire second-year cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu via waivers, according to ESPN’s Field Yates. But the Miami Dolphins beat them to him.
The Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers also made claims on Ekpre-Olomu after he was released by the Cleveland Browns, according to Yates. The Saints would have gotten him ahead of both of those teams, based on the NFL’s waiver priority.
Ekpre-Olomu would have been an interesting long-term prospect for the Saints. He was once considered a potential first-round draft pick at Oregon before he tore his ACL. Instead, the Browns drafted him in Round 7 last year, but he has not yet fully recovered from the injury.
