Saints Move on from Tim Hightower, Now with 49ers

After a promising beginning to his career in Arizona and a tenure with the Washington Redskins the former University of Richmond running back sat out nearly four years before rejuvenating his career with the New Orleans Saints in 2015.

In two years with the Saints, Hightower showed himself to be a capable back-up. Behind featured back Mark Ingram, Hightower averaged four yards a carry. He contributed ably when called upon as a rusher and as a receiving back.

Hightower’s departure leaves the Saints with only three RBs behind Mark Ingram. Second-year player Daniel Lasco, Marcus Murphy and Travaris Cadet will fight for the backup roster spot, barring any free agent additions.
