New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis is more or less legendary in his ability to navigate the salary cap, and he’s done it again in signing former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant.
The Saints went into negotiations with Bryant’s representatives with roughly $950,000 in available space, barely enough to cover his veteran’s minimum salary of $915,000. So Loomis made some calls and left that meeting with Bryant agreeing to terms, and star left tackle Terron Armstead agreeing to a contract restructure so the Saints could afford it.
Per the Advocate’s Nick Underhill, Armstead’s restructuring accelerates what remains of his $10.
