Saints HC Sean Payton announced Friday that it was discovered long snapper Jon Dorenbos has an aortic aneurysm that will require open heart surgery, per Josh Katzenstein.
Payton said Dr. John Amoss discovered the issue on a follow-up physical and ultimately saved Dorenbos’ life with the discovery, per Katzenstein.
The Saints will place him on the non-football injury list in the coming days and the prior trade could be rescinded.
Dorenbos was traded by the Eagles to the Saints a few weeks ago in return for a 2019 seventh-round pick.
