Ever since quarterback Drew Brees took the field in black and gold with head coach Sean Payton in his ear, the New Orleans Saints have been known for a versatile passing offense. For years, guys like wideout Lance Moore and tailback Pierre Thomas (both now in the team Hall of Fame) preached about how anyone could take over a game at any time thanks to how well Brees spread the ball around and how effectively Payton schemed to get them touches against favorable matchups.
This year’s offense has told a very different story. The receiving corps has been dominated by two young stars in Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara, who have combined for 48 of Brees’ 79 targeted passes (61-percent).
