New Orleans Saints long snapper Jon Dorenbos has an aortic aneurysm and will have to have surgery, Saints Coach Sean Payton announced Friday morning on his teleconference call with local media.
Payton said the team is bringing in a handful of players for tryouts Friday to replace Dorenbos, who was recently acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. He will be placed on the non-football injury list.
Saints doctor John Amoss discovered the pre-existing condition in a physical, Payton said. "It's a pretty serious condition that will require surgery," Payton said.
Dorenbos was entering his 15th season and has played in 201 games.
