BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The timeout controversy in Week 15's New Orleans Saints-Detroit Lions game, which worked against the Saints, is the subject of a proposed rule change at this year's NFL owners meetings.
Head of NFL officials Dean Blandino pointed to the incident in his Monday press conference in explaining this year's new rule proposals. In the pitched rule change, a team would be penalized as a delay of game if a team calls for and is awarded a timeout after using all three clock stoppages.
