Justin Zimmer isn't a household name to most casual fans of the New Orleans Saints.
But don't overlook the 6-foot-3 defensive tackle as a potential contributor when considering he had the benefit of spending time on the Saints practice squad late in the 2016 season.
The experience allowed Zimmer, whom the Saints signed to the practice squad on Dec. 13, an opportunity to acclimate to the defensive scheme, familiarize himself with teammates and provide confidence for the offseason workouts.
"I liked it a lot because it gave me three weeks to at least get a grasp of the playbook," Zimmer said Thursday on the final day of organized team activities (OTAs).
