Saints-Jaguars first half recap: Jacksonville up 13-10

We’re already into halftime after a quick exchange of scoring drives. Here’s my quick takes from the first quarter:

  • The back seven defenders on the Saints defense struggled to shed blocks on the opening possession, allowing Leonard Fournette to gain 8 yards untouched on the first carry
  • For some reason Alex Anzalone, the fastest and youngest linebacker in the starting rotation, was taken off the field in nickel defense
  • Saints defense continues to look slow as Blake Bortles scores on the opening drive. No, they aren’t scheming to counter the offense, and starting defensive ends Cameron Jordan and Alex Okafor are sitting out, but you can’t let a quarterback with a dad bod beat you to the pylon
  • Wide receiver Brandon Tate looks nice on 37-yard kickoff return.
