The New Orleans Saints made a move to add some veteran help at pass rusher on Monday, signing defensive end Daryl Tapp and waiving tight end Jack Tabb in a minor roster maneuver announced on the NFL’s transactions wire.
Tapp, 31, is a 6-foot-1, 270-pounder who has played 10 seasons in the NFL and compiled 27.5 career sacks, but he’s been mostly a bit player over the last half of his career. Tapp has just four sacks and one start in his past four seasons in the league.
Drafted in the second round in 2006 by the Seattle Seahawks, the Virginia Tech player piled up seven sacks in his second season in the league, but he was never that productive again, and he’s bounced around, spending three years in Philadelphia, one in Washington and the past two seasons with the Detroit Lions before landing a shot with New Orleans this summer.
