Free agent running back Theo Riddick is signing with the Denver Broncos, as first reported by Mike Klis of 9News KUSA-TV and Rob Demovsky of ESPN. Riddick visited with the New Orleans Saints earlier this week before meeting with the Broncos, following his release from the Detroit Lions.
Riddick would have been an ideal fit for the Saints as a backup to superstar running back Alvin Kamara, sharing Kamara’s abilities on passing downs. Riddick is the only player in the NFL with 50 or more receptions in each of the last four seasons. He’ll now join a backfield featuring runners Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman, and quarterback Joe Flacco.
