METAIRIE, La. -- If the New Orleans Saints start this season 1-0, it’s a pretty safe bet who will be getting a game ball: defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.
Not only is Allen tasked with turning around one of the worst defenses in NFL history, but he gets to kick off the season against the Oakland Raiders; the team fired him as head coach two years ago.
“Listen, the reality is we’re just gonna go out and try to win a game. And I think anytime you try to make it about anything other than that, then you’re taking away from what your main objective is or your main goal is,” said Allen, who served as the Raiders' coach from 2012 until four weeks into the 2014 season.
