New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandon Marshall was released on Wednesday, per a report from ESPN’s Field Yates. Marshall never showed enough in practice to warrant a snap in four regular season games, and he leaves without ever taking the field for the black and gold.
In a corresponding move, the Saints claimed tight end Erik Swoope off of waivers from the Indianapolis Colts. The big former Miami Hurricanes basketball player (Swoope weighs in at 6-foot-5, 257-pounds) signed with the Colts in undrafted free agency back in 2014. He spent time on the practice squad before appearing intermittently in games behind starters Jack Doyle and Eric Ebron.
