According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, the New Orleans Saints are releasing defensive tackle John Jenkins on Tuesday. The report came out during the afternoon, and has since been confirmed by Nick Underhill of The Advocate.
The former third-rounder of 2013 played in 39 games for the Saints during the past several seasons. The writing was on the wall for Jenkins, as the team made several moves to improve their interior during the offseason. Jenkins saw his play time diminish over time with then rookie Tyeler Davison outplaying him last season. Jenkins was a healthy scratch for Sunday’s game against the 49ers.
