Late Saturday afternoon, Mar. 16, Saints center Max Unger announced that he’s retiring from football. For those inside the organization, this may not be as much of a shock as it has been for the media and Saints fans.
Unger just completed his tenth year in the league having spent the first six years of his career in Seattle and the last four in New Orleans. He came to New Orleans in 2015 in what was considered an absolutely crazy trade at the time. The trade sent hugely successful tight end Jimmy Graham and a fourth-round draft pick to Seattle in exchange for Unger and the 31st pick in that year’s draft.
