As a sportswriter, I like to stick to sports. Sometimes there’s a confluence of sports and politics, however. Maybe never so much as last year when dozens of NFL players began to protest during the playing of the National Anthem after President Donald Trump referred to some of them as SOBs. The back and forth between the president and NFL players has returned for preseason and it may get more heated soon. Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan took to Twitter on Friday to respond to President Trump’s latest. And late Friday night it got ugly with a flame war on Twitter with the sports director of the Saints flagship radio station.
