Saints, Bucs make final roster tweaks before season opener

The New Orleans Saints made final adjustments ahead of their home opener on Sunday, per Nick Underhill of the Advocate. The Saints promoted tailback Jonathan Williams from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster on Saturday. Underhill reports that the corresponding move to make room for Williams is the release of reserve offensive lineman Jermon Bushrod, who missed practice without injury on Thursday and Friday.

With Williams off of the practice squad, that opened the door for rookie quarterback J.T. Barrett to return and fill his space. Barrett was released on Friday to accommodate the signing of tailback Boston Scott, who was waived earlier in the week.
