The New Orleans Saints signed tight end John Phillips to a one-year contract, according to a source familiar with the transaction.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6-5, 251-pound Phillips originally joined the Saints on Nov. 7, 2016, after being claimed off waivers from the Denver Broncos.
Phillips went on to appear in eight games in a Saints uniform, including four starts, and recorded five catches for 32 yards while contributing as a blocking tight end and on special teams.
Phillips, who turns 30 on June 11, entered the league out of Virginia in 2009 as a sixth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys, where he spent three seasons (2009-12).
