The New Orleans Saints have five picks in the first three rounds of the 2017 NFL Draft, and based on what assistant general manager Jeff Ireland said Thursday, it's a good year to have that many high selections.
Speaking with WWL-AM 870 on a pre-draft show, Ireland said this year's group of prospects is "more top heavy than I've seen in the past."
Thanks to the Brandin Cooks trade, the Saints now have five picks in the first three rounds, including four in the top 76. New Orleans could package some of those picks to trade up or trade down to acquire more, but they enter the draft in a strong position to find some impact players.
