On New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, Field Yates of ESPN tweeted that the Saints had signed veteran tight end Josh Hill to a contract that will keep him in New Orleans through the 2021 Season. According to the tweet, the deal is for three years and $8.85 million.
On the surface, this deal looks pretty crazy. Josh Hill is a decent enough blocker and pass catcher, but has never been terribly productive as a Saint. In his sixth year with the team, he hasn’t produced as many receiving yards in his career as Benjamin Watson did in 2015 alone.
