According to Alex Marvez of SiriusXM NFL Radio and the Sporting News, the New Orleans Saints are adding veteran linebacker Sam Barrington to the team. The report emerged Wednesday morning, and has been confirmed by other sources.
The Saints had two open spots from recent transactions that involved releasing Chris McCain, Brian Dixon, and most recently John Jenkins. They only claimed one player - tight end John Phillips, formerly of Denver - off of waivers on Monday.
Barrington, a 2013 seventh-round pick, has spent time with the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs.
