On Friday, July 27, a good portion of the Saints coaching staff went to Minnesota for the funeral of Vikings offensive line coach and long-time friend of Sean Payton, Tony Sparano. With a number of coaches, including Payton, absent for day two of training camp, the wheel of the team was turned over to Aaron Glenn.
Glenn is going into his third year with the Saints organization and is currently the team’s secondary coach for the defense. There were rumors during the offseason that he was on a short list to replace Matt Patricia as defensive coordinator in New England when Patricia was named head coach of the Detroit Lions.
