We were sitting in the south end zone at grand, old Tulane Stadium, my daddy and me. Our seats were on the front row, just to the right of the goal posts.
We stood as the blue-shirted Los Angeles Rams prepared to kickoff to the white-shirted Saints. We were present for history, the first regular season game in New Orleans Saints history.
The Rams kicked off, going away from us. We could see, about 100 yards away, John Gilliam gather in the kickoff and head our way. Rams pursuers blocked our view for a split second, and then it was as if the blue shirts parted like the Biblical Red Sea.
