During the 2017 Season, late, the Saints, under defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, started shifting to more three-safety sets. The move was to account for a league that was becoming increasingly pass heavy and a general trend toward safeties in a hybrid linebacker/safety/corner mode. The trio of Vonn Bell, Marcus Williams and free agent acquisition Kurt Coleman was supposed to make it rock solid. That’s not how it worked out.
Former Carolina Panther Kurt Coleman was brought in during the 2018 offseason replacing Kenny Vaccaro who ende up with the Titans. According to Pro Football Focus, Vaccaro saw something of a rebirth in Tennessee.
