Roman Harper won’t be a game-changer for the New Orleans Saints. Not at this stage of his career.
But I really like New Orleans’ move to bring back the 33-year-old veteran for two reasons above all others:
1. This is the latest in a series of moves designed to bring some stability to a defense that badly needs it.
A lot of those moves have been a throwback to the Saints' 2009 Super Bowl season. First, they switched from defensive coordinator Rob Ryan to Dennis Allen late last year (and it’s no coincidence that Allen was Harper’s position coach when they won that Super Bowl together).
