NFL commissioner Roger Goodell finally emerged from seclusion in his New York office to discuss the controversial final minutes of the NFC championship game, in which multiple on-site officials missed multiple penalties committed by Los Angeles Rams defensive back Nickell Robey-Coleman and chose not to call foul. The Rams won the game and advanced to Super Bowl LIII.
Goodell’s message was empathetic to the concerns of New Orleans Saints fans: “We understand the frustration of the fans,” he said. “I’ve talked to Coach Payton, the team, the players. We understand the frustration they feel right now and we certainly want to address that.
