NEW ORLEANS -- Naturally, Drew Brees is happy to have Chase Daniel back with the New Orleans Saints. The two quarterbacks forged a close bond during their four years together from 2009-2012, competing in everything from throwing contests to races between practice drills to offseason home run derbies.
But the first thing Brees mentioned when asked about Daniel last week was how hard it will be to part ways with another close friend and backup, Luke McCown.
McCown has not been released by the Saints, but Brees seemed to suggest that such a move is inevitable at some point after the Saints re-signed Daniel last week.
