The news was announced on Sunday.
Thompson, who was a sixth-round pick by Minnesota Vikings in 2015, played both left and right tackle for the Oklahoma Sooners. Unfortunately, Thompson didn’t make final cuts with the Vikings. He suffered a concussion in preseason, which placed him on injured reserve.
Thompson eventually latched on with the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad and later the Detroit Lions practice squad. He was eventually released on May 5, 2016.
Thompson, who is listed at 6-foot-5, 324 pounds, made 29 starts at Oklahoma. In 2014, he was a first-team All-Big 12 selection after just allowing one sack.
