The New Orleans Saints added their third Minnesota Vikings free agent of the offseason by signing defensive back Marcus Sherels, as first reported by Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Sherels originally joined Minnesota as a defensive back, mostly playing cornerback, but has primarily worked on the punt and kickoff units since 2014. He returned 23 punts last season for 276 yards, a clip of 12.0 yards per return. In his career (and including the postseason), Sherels has 237 punt returns in his career for a total of 2498 return yards, an average of 10.
