It’s been a wild couple of days for New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Mitchell Loewen. On Monday, just an hour before kickoff against the Houston Texans, the Saints activated him from their practice squad and put him in for 11 snaps in their season-opener.
On Tuesday, Loewen was waived to make room for defensive tackle David Onyemata, who was returning from a one-week suspension to start the year. Fortunately, Loewen passed through waivers without being claimed by another team and re-signed with the Saints practice squad on Wednesday. Herbie Teope of The Advocate was the first to report Loewen’s return.
