The New Orleans Saints continued their youth movement at wide receiver on Friday, signing Simmie Cobbs Jr off of Washington’s practice squad. The move was first reported by Nick Underhill of the Advocate.
Cobbs, 23, played for the Indiana Hoosiers in college, breaking out in his 2015 sophomore season (catching 60 passes for 1035 yards and four scores) but was sidelined the following year with an ankle injury. He returned after that redshirt season to again find his stride to the tune of 72 receptions for 841 yards and eight touchdowns. He signed with Washington in undrafted free agency after the 2018 NFL Draft and returned to their practice squad following final roster cuts.
