When the Saints signed Travis Cadet to a one-year deal early in the offseason, the move seemed prudent. Cadet has been a pass-catching option out of the backfield for New Orleans each of his five professional seasons and after checking around the open market, returned to the fold this spring.
While the Saints featured Mark Ingram and Tim Hightower as their primary rushing threats, Cadet’s niche was obvious, catching 40 balls and four touchdowns in 2016. He thought he was returning to that role in 2017, but after two major investments in the position, he seems to have lost his place.
