METAIRIE, La. – Drew Brees had a pretty spectacular game last week, throwing for 412 yards and three touchdowns in the New Orleans Saints’ win over Jacksonville despite playing through a torn plantar fascia in his right heel.
But it wasn’t good enough to earn Brees another NFC Offensive Player of the Week award. Because he was one-upped by Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones.
Jones continued his torrid 2015 pace by catching nine passes for 178 yards in the Falcons’ upset victory over the Carolina Panthers – including a ridiculous 70-yard touchdown catch over the head of Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly.
