In a move we all knew was coming, on Tuesday, Jul 23, the Saints officially put defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins on the preseason physically unable to perform (PUP)list. In an unrelated move, two free-agent strong safeties DeShawn Shead and Jordan Moore were brought in for tryouts.
A brief explanation, the preseason PUP list is only for the period from when training camp begins until the regular season starts. The difference between the preseason and normal PUP is that a player may be taken off the preseason list and put back on the roster at any time.
