Protest Fallout: Louisiana lawmaker wants to cut Saints' funding

Related Topics: Louisiana, Kenny Havard

Louisiana Rep. Kenny Havard had a quick response to a group of Saints players who participated in protests during the National Anthem prior to Sunday’s game against division rivals Carolina Panthers. Havard is calling for the state of Louisiana to cut millions of dollars in state tax dollars, exemptions and credits that are allocated to the Saints and the NFL. His statement did not put an exact amount of money that would be cut from funding.

“Disrespecting our national anthem and flag in the name of social injustice is the highest form of hypocrisy, Our free society made possible by our fighting men and women has made available free education, free lunch, housing and free healthcare and is now be considered socially unjust, It is time the taxpayers quit subsidizing protest on big boy playgrounds.
