On 12 separate occasions last Sunday, NFL kickers missed the extra point kick after a touchdown. According to NFL.com, "the 12 misses represent the most we've ever seen in one week, breaking the record of 10 that had stood for 46 years. There have been seven Sundays when 10 kicks were missed -- most recently in Week 2 of the 1985 season -- but never before now had we seen more than that."
Until 2015, the PAT (point after touchdown) was a 20-yard kick. Last year, however, the NFL caused the ball to be snapped by the center at the 8-yard line – making the kick 33 yards.
