Dear Sean,
First, thanks for making a gloomy, soggy Monday feel like a glorious fall day. Hope you didn’t find your car under water or anything when you and the team got back from Indianapolis.
Most of all, though, we’d like to apologize. Two weeks ago after the Philadelphia game, lots of folks, including yours truly, suspected you were coaching with one foot out the door.
You weren’t giving up for this season. You’re a well-paid professional who has great pride in the job you’re doing.
But because the team was in a 1-4 hole and the rebuilding of the Saints was not something you relished, even though you’ve given the past decade of your life to the franchise, moving on made sense.
